The brotherhood of theater is very strong. Conversation with Māris Ķimelis, winner of the Gamers’ Night Lifetime Achievement Award / LR1 / / Latvijas Radio

On November 23, Eduards Smiļģis ‘birthday, we are looking forward to this year’s unusual “Players’ Night”. The awards “For a Lifetime Contribution to the Art of Theater” will be awarded to director Māra Ķimele and actor of the Russian Russian Theater Mikhail Chekhov Leonid Lenc.

“I miss the stage and the colleagues in the eye hall and the energy that comes only when we look at each other. That stage is very lacking for all the people in the theater. I hope we will live this time soon and have a living life again,” Cultural Rondo acknowledged by the director and teacher Māra Ķimele.

She reveals that she will watch a TV show at the Horse Post Office, at her workplace, because it will be very interesting, everyone will be on their own stage.

“The prize is only this evening and since this evening will be without both squares – the stage and the auditorium, I will just watch TV. It has happened to me, it is such a smile of God,” says Māra Ķimele.

“Right now, the theater is very different. I really like it,” admits Māra Ķimele, comparing today with the time when she entered the theater. “Therefore, the theater is thriving, that although we are dissatisfied ourselves, as always. There are all kinds of theaters in Latvia.

Although the theater has changed, the theater society has not changed.

“When a person gets this pot, this addiction to theater, the profession does something with consciousness. It’s a job. Like all carpenters in the world at all times, they will understand each other. That’s because we know something the same thing, which others do not know.

In the evening, according to the news at nine, Latvian Radio 1 will be present at the “Players’ Night” award ceremony.
