Synopsis: Emperor Antoine Marc Aurèle has chosen his successor: General Maximus. The Emperor’s son, Commodus, knows this and has the general and his family killed immediately after his father’s death. Maximus survives the attack and escapes. After all sorts of adventures, he becomes a gladiator and swears revenge on Commodus.
