The blood supply service is waiting for blood donors even during the holiday season

In its statement sent to MTI on Monday, the OVSZ wrote that in order to keep the blood supply at a safe level, it welcomes those who want to help every working day during this period as well.

They pointed out that patient care and healthcare do not stop even during the holiday season, meaning that blood is constantly needed.

Last year too, more blood products were needed during the holiday period than the amount of blood donated by the volunteers.

Last year, 4,940 blood donations took place between the two holidays, and 5,900 units of the most used blood product, the red blood cell product, were delivered, they recalled.

In the same period this year, only 3 working days are available for conducting blood donations, so they expect the help of more blood donors than average, they added.

Blood donors are presented with a package of bacon sugar

They emphasized that they are waiting for donors who want to help with a full team both in their institutes and at blood drives abroad. For the selfless donation of blood, the OVSZ will present every blood donor with a package of salted sugar between December 18 and 24, and in the days before the New Year, donors will be greeted with the usual lucky lens

The list of blood donation dates and locations is on the website of the OVSZ www.ovsz.hu/idopontfoglalas page – read the announcement.

Several events were announced in Dunaújváros

In Dunaújváros, the next time you can donate blood is on Tuesday, December 19, at the blood donation station of the hospital between 8 and 10 a.m. Later this week, there will be another opportunity to donate blood at the same place: on Thursday, December 21, between 1 and 3 p.m. Between the two holidays, the next blood donation date will be December 28, and you can also lend your arms at two locations that day: blood donors are waiting at the hospital’s blood donation station between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., and at the Újtelep community center between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
