THE BALL – Weigl is at the exit (Benfica)

Signed in January 2020 from Dortmund for €20 million, with a contract until 2024 and a €100 million release clause, Julian Weigl is expected to leave Benfica this summer.

The 26-year-old German midfielder demanded, and still requires, a high investment from the Reds, who spend around €9 million per season on transfer amortization and salary.

Benfica wants to recover part of that money and transfer Weigl, whose departure will facilitate the signing of Fredrik Aursnes [ver notícia associada]. Eintracht Frankfurt, whose sporting director Bruno Hubner is very fond of Weigl, have already expressed interest, but there is still no official offer.
