The 5 barrier measures to respect after deconfinement

A recent study published in the medical journal The Lancet states that wearing a mask and respecting social distances are the most effective barriers to limit the risk of contracting covid-19.

Our life will never be the same again after deconfinement. From now on, we should adopt new habits and have new reflexes to protect ourselves against the Covid-19 virus which is still circulating in the world.

According to a new study published in The Lancet this Monday, June 1, the use of a protective mask (in a closed environment) and compliance with a physical distance of at least one meter, are the two most effective elements in curbing the transmission of the virus.

Wearing a mask reduces the risk of transmission by 85% and the distance by 1 meter by 80%

Researchers who analyzed 172 studies in 16 different countries on six continents came to the conclusion that the probability of transmission at a distance of less than 1 meter reaching 12.8% decreases with increasing distance. It increases to 2.6% for a distance greater than one meter. According to the researchers, a distance of two meters could be even more effective as a bulwark.

With regard to the effectiveness of the protective mask, the risk of transmission, which reaches 17.4% without a mask, is reduced to 3.1% with a mask. Scientists nevertheless argue that “Staying an average of 1 meter from other people seems to reduce your chances of catching Covid-19 by 80%. Wearing a mask or a face covering seems to reduce it, up to 85%. And wearing glasses or a face shield seems to reduce it by up to 78% Said Trish Greenhalgh, a professor of primary health care at the University of Oxford.
