TFV-Pokal: FSV Martinroda – Trouble before the “most important game in the club’s history”

No guest fans in Jena – FSV mad at association

The FSV was “dismayed” by the fact that they had to play the highlight in the club’s history without their own fans and accused the Thuringian Football Association of not having taken care of an adequate hygiene concept in good time. According to MDR information, the association submitted the concept to the city of Jena on Monday, six days before the final. Keller only found out about the hygiene concept on Tuesday during a security consultation. Much too late in his view.

Apparently, the association just wanted to saddle up with the hygiene concept of FC Carl Zeiss Jena at the game against Babelsberg – but that does not provide for any guest fans anyway. “Due to the organizational failures of the association (…) the Martinrodaer football fans were deprived of the biggest game of their club to date”, writes the club in a press release and asks itself why at the same time in the Oberliga game of Rudolstadt against Rot-Weiß Erfurt Guest fans were allowed.

“Would have been a great day for our fans”

But this is not possible at the sports facility selected by the association: “It’s just a shame for our fans, our sponsors, our footballers and parents, friends and relatives – it would have been a great day for them. That is simply disappointing, but it shows somehow also the way of working that the association displays. ” The 38-year-old complains about a lack of coordination and communication. He called the association six times about a possible ticket sale – in vain.

Complicated cup season in Thuringia

In any case, the Thuringia Cup is not under a good star this season. The fact that two clubs, the then regional league clubs FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt and Wacker Nordhausen, went bankrupt, led to upheavals: Because Erfurt withdrew completely, the association personally decided their quarter-final opponent SV Ehrenhain to go to the semifinals despite the 4-1 defeat transport: “If you had spoken to the remaining clubs, you would have accepted that,” thinks Keller. But since this did not happen, the FSV wondered why a cup loser was allowed to continue and lodged a complaint. This was granted, the protest was again crushed by Ehrenhain – that’s how Martinroda reached the final at the Green Table. Jena then competed in the semi-finals in Nordhausen against the remaining second team from Wacker and won 2-0.

Model from Saxony – Werder is waiting

The Thuringia Cup final will now take place as a complete ghost game, because FC Carl Zeiss has now also renounced its own appendix for reasons of fair play. Most recently, Martinroda, a place with just 800 inhabitants, swam on a wave of success and rose to the top league for the first time in 2019. But it was very difficult there and managed to stay up with a young team probably only because of the Corona crash.

In the cup they took a role model from Saxony, which is also at home in the Oberliga: “FC Eilenburg showed us how we can do it, maybe we can do something like that, hopes Dirk Keller, who is also the sporting director at FSV. The North Saxons bowled favorite Lok Leipzig 1-0 from the state cup. Keller thinks: “We are the outsiders, but I do not see ourselves as completely without a chance.” Coach Robert Fischer says: “For us it is something special to play against Jena in the cup final. For the team and for me as a coach, it is the easiest game of the whole season. All the players are hot and fit, are willing to win and to provide a little surprise. We want to stand up to and annoy FC Carl Zeiss for as long as possible. ” In the DFB Cup, SV Werder Bremen, a Bundesliga team with a name that is still resounding, is waiting.
