Ten officers in quarantine after breaking up an illegal party in Alblasserdam

Ten officers from the Drechtsteden-Buiten police team are in quarantine because they have come into contact with a person who has tested positive for corona. He was taken from a boat in Alblasserdam last week where an illegal party was going on.

According to police spokesman Gijs van Nimwegen, the mandatory quarantine is a bloodletting for the team. He estimates that about 10 percent of the team members have now dropped out. “Of course people were already in quarantine. We now have to improvise even more to complete the schedules.”

The party was held on a ship moored at yacht builder Oceanco. When cops tried to break it up because the revelers didn’t obey the corona rules, they were harassed.

The according to the police drunk men and women refused to cooperate and went ‘full resistance’ when reinforcements were called. Glasses and chairs were thrown and a shirt of one of the officers was killed during pushing and pulling. Two officers were also slightly injured.

Five people aged 23 to 34 were arrested, four men and a woman from Alblasserdam, but are now free again. The person who now appears to be infected with corona does not come from this group.

The district chief of South Holland South reacted furiously to the news of the contamination. “Outrageous”, he said. The quarantine period started last Friday and lasts until Monday. None of the agents have any complaints so far.
