Taylor Swift Makes History with Over $1 Billion in 2023 Concert Box Office Sales

Taylor Swift tops 2023 concert box office rankings with over $1 billion

(AFP, New York, 8th) The entertainment industry magazine Pollstar pointed out today that the total ticket revenue of the top 100 concert tours in 2023 hit a new high of 9.17 billion U.S. dollars (approximately NT$288.2 billion), among which American pop queen Taylor Swift ( Taylor Swift made the most.

Within one year from mid-November 2022, ticket sales for the 2023 tour will surge by 46% compared to the record-breaking previous year.

“2023 is an unprecedented year for live performance,” Pollstar said on its website.

All indicators show growth: the average revenue of a single concert increased by 53% to US$2.37 million, the total ticket sales increased by 18% to 70 million, and the average selling price of a single ticket also increased by more than 23%. Came to US$130.81 (approximately NT$4,110).

Taylor Swift’s concert tour also set a new record, with ticket sales of 60 concerts between March and November 2023 exceeding the symbolic $1 billion mark.

Prior to this, the only person with a box office close to $1 billion was British singer Elton John, whose marathon “Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour” took place in 5 years. It played 328 performances and grossed $939 million.

American singer Beyonce’s 56 concerts on the 2023 “Renaissance Tour” grossed a total of US$579 million, ranking second on the list. American rock singer Bruce Springsteen, British band Coldplay and British singer Harry Styles ranked third, fourth and fifth respectively.
