Taliban Siege Afghanistan, Uncle Sam Ogah Follows

Jakarta

Group Taliban already launched attacks in various cities to make hundreds of soldiers Afghanistan surrender. The United States (US), which had withdrawn its troops first, has now given up on asking Afghanistan to fight on its own.

“Afghan leaders must unite,” Biden told reporters in Washington, DC. “They have to fight for themselves,” he added, as reported by the AFP news agency, Wednesday (11/8/2021).

US Remains Support Afghan Security Forces

Furthermore, Biden said AS will continue to support the Afghan government in Kabul. He also added that he did not regret his decision to withdraw US troops from the conflict country on August 31 after two decades of war.

While calling on Afghanistan to fend for itself, it stressed that Washington would continue to support Afghan security forces with air strikes, food, equipment and money to pay salaries.

“We trained and equipped more than 300,000 Afghan troops with modern equipment over two decades,” Biden said.

“They definitely want to go to war. They outnumber the Taliban,” he added.

Taliban Control 8 Cities in Afghanistan

Currently, there are eight cities controlled by the Taliban. Most recently, the Taliban took control of the cities of Farah and Pul-e-Khumri in Baghlan Province within a few hours.

“The Taliban are now in the city,” Baghlan MP Mamoor Ahmadzai told AFP.

“They waved the flag in the main square and in the governor’s office building,” he added.

The seizure of these cities was confirmed by the Taliban in a post on Twitter.

As a result of the constant attacks, thousands of Afghans are reported to have fled cities recently captured by the Taliban. They said the Taliban carried out a number of brutal acts, ranging from beating, looting, to forcibly taking girls or widows.
