A fragile truce is in effect in SYRIZA against the background of tomorrow’s start of the party’s 4th Congress, while Stefanos Kasselakis “counted” a first victory after yesterday’s “explosive” meeting of the Political Secretariat.
In particular, in the vote conducted today by the Central Organizing Committee of the SYRIZA Conference for the position of president, the winner was the “chosen” of Stefanos Kasselakis, Panos Rigas, with the support of Nikos Pappas.
Mr. Rigas faced Nikos Mademlis, who was supported by Christos Spirtzis, and prevailed with 24 votes against 14.
The Tebonera side had initially proposed Haris Tsiokas, but in the end they agreed with the Spirtzis proposal.
What will Tsipras do?
Now the interest turns to whether the former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will attend and whether he will speak at the Congress after the internal party developments and the belligerent atmosphere that has been created.
Information says that his speech is not certain, most likely he will go to the Congress and make a statement when he gets there.
