The Syrian Ministry of Health confirmed that the number of victims of the devastating earthquake in the governorates of Aleppo, Lattakia, Hama, and Tartous has increased, to 403 people killed and 1,284 others injured, noting that all public and private health facilities are on constant alert in all governorates, as medical convoys were sent from health directorates. Damascus, Rif Dimashq, Quneitra, Homs, Tartous, to Aleppo and Latakia.

The Syrian Civil Defense and Fire Service, with the participation of the Syrian army, managed to rescue 39 people alive and recover the bodies of a number of dead people, while search and rescue operations are still continuing..

And the Syrian News Agency “SANA” stated on Monday, quoting the commander of the Fire and Civil Defense Authority, Muhannad Jaafar, that several people were pulled out from under the rubble in separate areas of Syria as a result of the earthquake, including two children and two women alive, and one deceased person was recovered, and a woman was taken out on the ground. Survivors from a dilapidated building, and 11 people, including children and adults, were alive from two buildings in Al-Raml Al-Janoubi area.

She explained that two people were taken out alive, and 4 dead were recovered in the southern sand area, and 6 people were removed without knowing their health condition, and 5 people were removed alive from a building in the Al-Asaliya area..

And she pointed out that all elements of the fire brigade were summoned and all its mechanisms, vehicles and crews were put on high alert to respond to distress calls from the first moments after the earthquake occurred, as rescue operations continue, searching for survivors and recovering bodies until this moment..

In a related context, a member of the executive office in Lattakia governorate, Duraid Markoush, confirmed the continuation of field follow-up to rescue operations in various locations and concerted governmental and civil efforts to speed up the pace of work, indicating that ten people were still alive from under the rubble of the dilapidated building in one of the areas. Where more than 100 members of the Syrian army, police, civil defense and firefighters are present to contribute to extricating the survivors from under the rubble and recovering the bodies..

In turn, the universities of Damascus and Al-Baath announced the postponement of the exams scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, to a date to be determined later.
