He has pleaded not guilty to these charges but is also the prime suspect in the disappearance and killing of a fourth woman, Maureen Brainard-Barnes.
Investigators believe that Heuermann committed the killings in his home, which is located just a few miles from where the women’s remains were found. A source involved in the investigation suggests that Heuermann may have lured victims to his home while his family was out of town, giving him control of the environment and access to materials found at the crime scene.
