[ニューヨーク 13日 ロイター] – Research firm Nielsen announced on the 13th that the U.S. National Football League (NFL) championship game Super Bowl, which was held on the 11th, had an estimated 123.7 million viewers, the highest ever.
This is second only to the estimated 125-140 million people who visited the moon during the 1969 televised landing of American astronauts on the moon.
This year’s Super Bowl was watched by 120.3 million people on CBS (PARA.O), opens new tab, which broadcast it. It was also broadcast on cable television and video streaming services.
In the game, the Chiefs defeated the 49ers to win the championship. Popular singer Taylor Swift also drew attention as she rushed to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who plays for the Chiefs.
“From record ad spending to the Taylor Swift effect, there were a number of factors driving this biggest and most unprecedented story,” said Ashwin Navin of data firm Samba TV.
