Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, revealed the fate of the league competition after the championship stoppage in the past period, against the background of the emerging epidemic of the Corona virus (Covid 19).
Sobhi pointed out in statements on “On Time Sports 1” screen in the early hours of Sunday morning: “We have developed several scenarios if the activity returns.”
He continued: “We need between three or four weeks preparation period, provided that the preparation for the resumption of activity during the mid-June or early July period.”
He continued: “If the league competition returns, it will be in August, but we are awaiting the decision of the Council of Ministers on the first of next June.”
The Minister of Youth and Sports, also confirmed in statements on the screen “On Time Sports 2”: “The end of 16 rounds of the league will be mid-September or early October.”
He concluded: “The decision is being studied until mid-June, because the Egyptian League in the past three years has already started between mid-September to mid-October.”
The Egyptian Football Federation, headed by Amr El-Ganayni, had announced earlier that the league competition would be postponed indefinitely, due to the spread of the new epidemic of Corona virus (Covid 19).
Al-Ahly leads the league competition with 49 points, 16 points behind second-ranked Arab contractors after 17 rounds of the Egyptian WE League.
Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi wrote on his official page, “Facebook” in the early hours of Saturday, that no decision had been issued regarding the cancellation of any local competition.
