Strong winds in several places in the country

– There is bad weather and a lot of wind in the area, and very slippery on the spot, the police in Møre og Romsdal report on Twitter.

The strong wind has had consequences in several places in the country on Wednesday. Earlier today, two hikers were hit by a trampoline that was taken off the road.

– The two hikers in Trondheim were taken to the emergency room for a check after they were hit by a trampoline on Wednesday afternoon, says operations manager Trond Hamgaas in Trøndelag police district.

The women in their 60s witnessed a strong gust of wind when a trampoline flew through the air and hit the two hikers.

Secure loose objects

The police are urging to secure loose objects, after they had to assist in several “wind episodes” on Wednesday.

Operations Manager Hamgaas says that they have assisted in securing loose garage roofs, and moved out when a car drove off the road after trees overturned across the road.

The police in Trøndelag have also been notified that a light fixture is about to fall on the road in Malvik, and that a garage roof is about to be blown off at Ranheim.

In Stjørdal, roofing sheets are about to come loose at Lånkehallen, and the fire service is working to secure the roof. All activity in the hall is canceled on Wednesday night.

In Horg is a wooden field of the wind and lies across a road. Power cables must be damaged.

Danger warning

From Rogaland and along the coast up to Bodø, wind will create challenges. A danger warning has been issued for strong gusts of wind up to and including Thursday.

There is a low pressure in the Atlantic Ocean near Iceland which means that there will be bad weather in southern Norway in the next few days.

A danger warning has been issued for large amounts of precipitation in the eastern mountains and in Rogaland, which applies until Thursday. It will also rain in Western Norway, but no danger warning has been issued.

– There are slightly lower temperatures in the eastern mountains than in the west, so the precipitation will come as snow in several places, says meteorologist Charalampos Sarchosidis at the Meteorological Institute.

Warns motorists in Eastern Norway

Sarchosidis warns that there may be challenging driving conditions in Eastern Norway in the next two days.

– One can expect major problems in traffic due to the rainfall and snow, which probably comes as a surprise to many around the Oslo area, he says.

One must also expect snowstorms over the mountains as a result of both precipitation and strong winds.

The temperature means that the precipitation will come as sleet in many places. At the coast and lower in the country, the precipitation will eventually turn to rain.
