Stranger on bicycle tears passer-by from her hand / eyewitness wanted

Darmstadt (ots) – On Thursday evening (June 4th), an as yet unknown perpetrator was up to mischief in the corner of Rheinstrasse and Steubenplatz. At around 9:00 p.m., the criminal had nourished himself on the back of a 63-year-old pedestrian on his bike and then ripped the cell phone out of the hand of the caller. However, because he then went on a spin with his bike, he lost the phone, left his bike a few meters away and fled on foot in an unknown direction. The fugitive was described as about 1.70 to 1.80 meters tall. He had a slim build and was dressed in a light hooded sweater and dark trousers.

A similar incident had already occurred in the afternoon, around 5 p.m., on Wilhelminenplatz, at the level of Georg Büchner Platz. Here a 41-year-old man from Dieburg was torn from his hand by an unknown person. With his booty, the criminal fled towards Elisabethenstrasse. In this case, there is currently no personal description of the perpetrator.

The EDC in Darmstadt is responsible for further investigations into both cases. The officers are looking for witnesses who may have been able to observe the crimes and who can provide information about the perpetrators. Whether the events are connected is also part of the investigation. Investigators can take all relevant information under the number 06151/9690.
