Start of tribute to Esposende businessman who died saving his daughter

Today a new solidarity current was born in the municipality of Esposende. Serginho, 12, was run over on June 6, 2019, in Palmeira de Faro, outside his grandparents’ house, at the time in critical condition.

The child was crossing EN 103-1 when he was picked up by a vehicle that was going in the direction Barcelos – Esposende. He was transported to the Hospital de São João, in Porto, with several critical injuries. After an intense fight, he managed to survive.

With one year of the brutal accident marking, little Sérgio is now 95% physically disabled, depending on the care of his mother who has stopped working since then. Only the father has supported the family.

Although they never asked for public support, Sara and Paulo, parents, now accepted to be part of a support group organized by friends and family, with the intention of helping them, urgently.

Before the accident, Serginho was a talented accordion player. Parents have always been involved in the esposendense community, participating as volunteers in a group that helped in the aftermath of the Beira Alta fires in 2017.

According to a source from the group, although at great cost, the parents have now decided to accept this help organized by those closest to them, who are going to hold a series of events not yet disclosed and create a solidarity account during the next few days.

The group, shown on the social network Facebook, can be accessed through this link.
