‘Star Wars’ boss about what future films will bring

The next one will be in December 2023 Star Warsmovie in the cinema. But according to Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy, her studio is still trying to take a step back to determine what the future of the franchise in theaters should be.

One of the goals of the sequels, she said, was to get the vision of George Lucas completely realized, because he always wanted to make nine films about the Skywalker family. Now there are other stories to explore in the franchise’s thousands of years of mythology, and it’s quite complex.

What will the future bring?
“It’s a process that is constantly changing,” Kennedy said during an interview with The Wrap. “When I started for Lucasfilm, George was already having conversations with his previous actors, Carrie [Fisher], Harrison [Ford] a worm [Hamill] – there was a saga the fans loved and he never finished. He was always talking about nine movies and was ready to fulfill that promise. And so our focus from the start has been on bringing that saga to a close. ”

But: “Now we are taking a step back. There have been stories told within this universe over a period of forty years, and now we are slowly realizing that our mythology spans some 25,000 years.” This offers many opportunities for new stories and it is precisely these that people now want to tell. The High Republicset hundreds of years before the Skywalker films, is one such initiative to tell new stories.

“Now we are taking a step back to think about what George made and to think about where it could go. fans and so many filmmakers who have been influenced by Star Wars, so this is a great opportunity to get a feel for who wants to be a part of this. ”

Seeking the unknown
Until now, the franchise has mainly focused on the known. Even the series The Mandalorian tells a story in a time period that we already know. The same goes for the series around Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor, which means that the real new work has yet to begin.

Fortunately, there are quite a few makers who are working on Star Warsmovies. What about Rian Johnson, developing a trilogy? Or from Taika Waititi who signed on for a project and Marvel boss Kevin Feige? The possibilities are great and that is what Lucasfilm apparently wants to finally exploit.
