The candidacy of Stefos in SYRIZA was blocked in the assembly of N.E. Ioannina, while in PASOK it was decided that Stefanos Zoumbas will lead the effort.
In PASOK
In the person of Stefanos Zoumba, PASOK is said to end up for the position of candidate for the regional governor of Epirus.
With this fact and since there was difficulty in finding a candidate in the Region of Epirus, after the refusals of Mr. Mandalova and Gatsiu, the president of PASOK, Nikos Androulakis, contacted the municipal symbol of Thomas Bega’s faction, Stefano Zoumba, whom he asked to be the head of the faction that will support PASOK-KINAL in the Region of Epirus.
According to information, Stefanos Zoubas, after initially informing former mayor Thomas Bega about the proposal he accepted, then started a series of exploratory contacts with all PASOK-KINAL officials in Epirus.
The former secretary of N.E. Ioannina of PASOK, former regional councilor of Epirus and municipal councilor of Ioannina is the person who is very close to Vangelis Argyris and who is said to be chosen to lead the “green” ballot in Epirus, which is expected to be formalized soon.
To SYRIZA
Without the slightest dissenting voice, the candidacy of former MP Yiannis Stefos for the Region of Epirus, in the elections of October 8, was “passed” by the Prefectural Committee of Ioannina of SYRIZA, at a meeting of the body on Tuesday night.
As expected, after the first discussion and “blocking” of the name of Yannis Stefos in the political secretariat of SYRIZA two days ago, and the local organization of the party could not express an opposing opinion on the candidacy of one of its executives who maintains good relations with all party tendencies.
So now, the candidacy of Stefos for the Region of Epirus, which also has the… “blessings” of Olga Gerovasilis, a member of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA, is going to be ratified at the Political Secretariat of Thursday and subsequently, it will be put under the approval of the Central Committee of SYRIZA , during the two days of July 14-15.
Difficult for the Municipality
For the Municipality of Ioannita, things are certainly much more difficult for SYRIZA, because a lot of preparation is required for the formation of the multi-member ballot. Although there was a first conversation at the Prefectural Committee on Tuesday night, the body could not come to a decision and it will be forwarded to a meeting of SYRIZA members, in the next few days. However, the refusal of Lazaros Natsis and Vlasis Papachristos, today’s elected municipal councilors of Ioannina with the faction supported in 2019 by SYRIZA, makes the condition of autonomous descent more difficult.
On the other hand, the antipathy that former Mayor Philippas Filios has for Thomas Bega is known, and the choice of supporting the former Mayor and the faction “Unity of Citizens of Nea Yannen” does not seem very easy. There is therefore on the table the possibility of an autonomous candidacy for SYRIZA, with very bad conditions, as they also understand and one of the persons proposed is the former Rector of the University of Ioannina, Triantafyllos Albanis.
