Apple and Mercedes-Benz automaker have entered into a partnership. Not about the technology for self-driving cars or anything else related to Apple’s alleged “Project Titan”, but about music and audio technology.
Apple’s surround sound technology with Dolby Atmos quickly became popular on Apple Music and is supported in most of the company’s new hardware products. Now it is a series of the most luxurious Mercedes car models: the EQS electric cars, EQS Suv and EQE, the S-class and all Maybach models.
The cars will be another manufacturer’s first products with spatial sound support on Apple Music and will be equipped with substantial speaker systems to make the music sound due. A special Maybach model designed by Virgil Abloh sneaked the technology when it was unveiled in September and features a Burmester “four-dimensional” sound system with 31 speakers. The same system should also be available in other models.
