The Crew Dragon crewed reusable spacecraft with four space tourists aboard successfully descended into the Atlantic Ocean on Friday afternoon, the company said.

After leaving orbit, the spacecraft’s descent capsule, using a parachute system, made a soft landing off the east coast of Florida near the city of Dayton at approximately 08:30 local time (16:30 Bulgarian time).

Crew Dragon undocked from the International Space Station on Wednesday after spending two days in autonomous flight mode.

The ship arrived at the station on January 20, but the return was delayed by bad weather in the launch area and was delayed three times.

As a result, the crew remained on the station four days longer than the planned two-week period – a total of 21 days.

The crew of the ship flying under the Axiom program included the first Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravci. Former NASA astronaut Michael López-Alegría captained the crew, which also included Italian pilot Walter Villadei and Swedish astronaut Markus Wand, a former military pilot and reservist for the European Space Agency.

The flight of the first Turkish astronaut has been postponed again

The current third mission of Axiom (Ax-3) conducted 56 scientific experiments on board the space station related to human physiology, as well as experiments of the sponsors of the program, “SpaceX” reports on its website.

Axiom’s first commercial mission, Ax-1, took place in April 2022 and was again extended unplanned due to poor weather for landing on Earth. The flight of the second mission to the ISS was in May 2022.

SpaceX has an agreement for 2-3 flights a year with space tourists under the Axiom Space program.
