Sony’s Presence at CES 2024 & Speculation on PS5 Pro Reveal

The next year of the consumer electronics fair – CES 2024 – will start next week. Sony will also be present, as it is preparing for its own press conference. Is there any chance that a more powerful version of the PlayStation 5 will be introduced?

Insider Tom Henderson responded to these speculations in a post on Platform X. “I’d be surprised if they announced a new console nine to ten months from release, if they’re still sticking to that timeline. So I’m leaning more towards the announcement coming at the end of the third quarter.”

According to unconfirmed reports, Sony will want to launch the console later this year, so a January launch seems premature, if only for the reason that this move would likely negatively affect sales of the current version. It can be expected that Sony will wait for the second half of the year and unveil a more powerful variant at one of its traditional presentations.

Headsets, cameras and PS VR2

The aforementioned press conference will take place on January 9 at 2 am, but it is not yet clear what it will cover. The official site suggests that it will be about technology-driven creativity, but under that, you can imagine practically anything.

The preview image for the upcoming video includes camcorders and headphones, apparently referring to products in those categories. The image of the ghost from Ghostbusters with PS VR suggests that there will be talk of virtual reality again. We will probably learn more on Tuesday.
