Last night at 10:00 p.m. German time, Sonos presented its latest product – there was no surprise. After last week’s leaks, we already knew what to expect: A new Sonos Roam. The new release can be pre-ordered now for 179 euros; delivery will start on April 20th.
If you want to keep it short, then you can simply call the new Sonos Roam a small version of the Sonos Move. It’s more compact, lighter and certainly not that loud. When developing the new loudspeaker, Sonos put some thought into it and integrated exciting functions.
Like the Sonos Move, the Sonos Roam supports automatic Trueplay, but not only when using the WLAN, but also outside the home Sonos system while using Bluetooth. As soon as you turn off the Sonos Roam, the sound is analyzed and automatically adapted to the environment.
In any case, the combination of WLAN and Bluetooth plays an important role in the Sonos Roam. If you stream to the speaker with Spotify via Bluetooth on the go, it automatically switches to WiFi and Spotify Connect as soon as you get home. Also exciting: thanks to the new sound swap feature, you only have to hold down the play / pause button to easily transfer the playback to the nearest Sonos speaker.
The Sonos Roam is charged with a simple USB-C cable, which is included with the power supply unit. There is also a € 49 magnetic charging station that can be used even if you put the Sonos Roam on its side. Alternatively, you can charge the speaker with any Qi charging pad before you can enjoy music wirelessly for 10 hours.
