During this face to face meeting with the press, Dr Ilboudo Dieudonné and Kounouyini Philippe, Secretary General of Assaut Hépatites, returned to the motivations that prevailed in the creation of the association. “In Burkina Faso, viral hepatitis is a major public health problem, with a high endemicity of hepatitis B. Despite the introduction of the hepatitis B vaccine in the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) for the prevention of disease, specific health policies to fight against viral hepatitis remain insufficient in our country. It is on the basis of this observation that a working and reflection group made up of public health practitioners, hospital practitioners, researchers and community members deemed it useful and necessary to create an association to fight against hepatitis. virals in Burkina Faso, ”says Dr Ilboudo Dieudonné.

Regarding the open days scheduled from March 8 to 13, several activities are on the program according to the Secretary General of Assaut Hépatites, Kounouyini Philippe. The test for viral hepatitis type B and type C; HIV testing; vaccination against hepatitis B virus; radio broadcasts; an exhibition of stands are among others, the major events expected during the open days. In addition, on March 13, 2021, a public conference on the theme: “In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, let us remain committed to the elimination of viral hepatitis” is planned in the same framework. Will be hosted at the National School of Public Health in Bobo-Dioulasso, from 9 a.m.
