Socrates says he is the target of “rogue accusations” and “tobacco trials” in Rio – Actualidade

These positions were transmitted by the former leader of the socialists through a note he sent to the Lusa agency.

In an interview he gave to RTP3, on Wednesday, reported by the Lusa agency, the president of the PSD reacted to José Sócrates’ criticisms about the end of fortnightly debates with the presence of the prime minister in parliament within the scope of the revision of the Assembly’s Rules of Procedure of the Republic approved last week by socialists and social democrats.

“The engineer Sócrates now comes to defend the fortnightly debates, and well, because it is clear that he was duly supervised there and before him and it was all a little shame and a rebadry. With the biweekly debates there was a real inspection there, for him and his Government ”, quipped Rui Rio.

In the face of these words of the PSD president, the former socialist prime minister replied: “With the finesse of spirit very typical of those who attended foreign schools, Dr. Rui Rio decided to respond to the criticisms I made at the end of fortnightly debates with indirect allusions to the process Marquis ”.

“It did it more or less in the same way that it had previously been used by Judge Carlos Alexandre, using rascal hints. I intend to keep my mood up, but I must also take this seriously ”, he justified.

José Sócrates later says that “for six years” he has defended himself “from false, unjust and absurd accusations” that call into question his “honesty and the honor of the governments” he presided over.

“Now, the intention that I see in Rui Rio’s words is the same as always for the Portuguese right since the process began – to deny me the right to protest my innocence, to deny me the right of defense and, ultimately, condemn me without judgment. Maybe someday someone will ask you if you still have any sense of decency and remind you that tobacco trials are not valid depending on the circumstances, ”adds José Sócrates.
