So many people have been offered space at upper secondary level in the county

9,704 applicants have been offered school space in upper secondary school in Møre og Romsdal next year.

In a press release, Møre and Romsdal county authorities state that it is almost only applicants with juvenile rights who have been offered school space.

After this first intake, there are 82 applicants with juvenile rights who have not been placed on the first high school, 40 who have not been placed on the second high school and six who have not been placed on the third high school. Overall, this is less than last year.

waiting list

Those who have been offered study space have a deadline to respond on July 10. Then there is the second intake in August.

– From experience we know that a good number of those on the waiting list will come in when the second intake is run on August 3rd. We also want to ensure that all applicants with juvenile rights get school space for school start. Other applicants will not be offered until everyone with a youth right has been given a school place, says acting county education manager Kariann Dimmen Flovikholm.

Waiting lists have been created to get more offers for the first upper secondary school. This applies, among other things, to health and upbringing subjects, technology and industrial production, electrophysics, study specialization, nature use, sports and construction.

Alternative vocational training

On June 30, there were also 1,310 applicants for vocational training. Of these, 1,115 have residences in Møre and Romsdal and apprenticeship as the first choice.

Møre and Romsdal county municipalities report that at the end of June, there were 835 applicants who received apprenticeship.

– This is a slight increase from the same time last year, writes the county.

Møre and Romsdal county councils write that they will compensate for apprenticeships that disappear due to the corona situation, by creating alternative vocational training in the third upper secondary school.
