Škoda Auto in Boleslav is testing the production of a new electric car. The employees “burned” the name

Škoda Auto is about to introduce a new electric car, which it will produce in Mladá Boleslav. The company’s employees revealed the name of the new model in the weekly Škodovácký odborář. Elroq should be named. “This week, the Elroq will be tested between sections,” the unions said.

The name Elroq has been speculated since January last year, when Škoda Auto registered the name. The letter Q at the end already indicated that it would be an SUV, while E at the beginning again promised a purely electric drive.

According to internal resources of the auto.cz server, the new Elroq will not be a small SUV – style electric city car that should bring a new design direction to Modern Solid. The carmaker published the first example of this probably the most anticipated Mladá Boleslav electric car a few months ago, and the Volkswagen Group also published a sketch of the silhouette a few weeks ago.

The small city electric car should be built on the reduced and simplified MEB electric platform, which is also referred to as MEB Entry. In addition, the Volkswagen and Cupra sibling models should be created on the same basis, but according to the first examples, each will offer a significantly different design.

While Skoda will focus more on SUV style, Cupra is likely to bet on sportiness and VW on elegance and versatility. However, we will probably have to wait for more information, but the small electric car should be manufactured together with the group’s siblings in Spain.
