Shopping in Poland: Low Prices and Free Shipping on Coal, Household Items, and More

While Polish supermarkets on the Czech border are nervous about the influx of Czech customers, other Poles have already started hunting us with free services. At least that’s what the advertisement of a Polish coal seller promises, for example, who not only promises “low prices” and claims that his coal is “the best”, but also intends to transport the fuel to Moravia at his own expense. The Polish e-shop Allegro, which also offers a complete assortment for the household, has already actively expanded into the Czech Republic.

Description: Black coal

Brown coal offers an advertisement for 610 CZK/cubic meter, cube for 810 CZK/cubic meter, lumps of coal for 910 CZK/cubic meter. Coke nut 2 for 1120 CZK/cube. Everything should be from the best Polish mines. And free shipping. Such an ad can be found on social networks. “Low prices! The best!” says Marcin Gorawski in the ad, which offers coal and “briquettes”.

Some things are cheaper than in the Czech Republic, while others are more expensive. You can get coke in the Czech Republic for around 1400 CZK/cubic meter, but with a little luck you can get brown coal (including walnut) for less than 600 CZK/cubic meter. Sellers are seeing a lot of interest at the moment as it has cooled down and people are restocking.

For example, Uhelné sklady Havířov has black walnut and black coal cubes for 760 CZK/cube, coke walnut for 1150 CZK/cube, brown walnut from 560 to 610 CZK/cube.

Server Tn.cz then mentions the average price of brown coal around 650 crowns per meter. The same amount of black coal for the above-mentioned 1400 crowns. The difference is in the calorific value, where black is more calorific, therefore more expensive.

However, Czechs are getting closer and closer to the various assortments that they can buy in Poland. For example, they can now also use the Polish e-shop Allegro. “We bought mattresses for the bed, 1 approx. 5,000-6,000 CZK here, 4,800 for the same mattress there for 2 pcs, free shipping. Ordered on Sunday evening – at home on Friday,” they boast, for example. However, the range of goods is much wider.

The start of Allegro in the Czech Republic can already be found in the relatively well-known auction and sales portal Aukro. At one time, it gained a fairly decent popularity in our country, but it gradually declined with the advent of Chinese e-shops. Allegro’s fundamental entry into the Czech market can therefore only be seen in its takeover of the mostly Czech internet store Mall.cz.

According to the server Novinky.cz Allegro bought Mall Group and WeDo in November 2021 from PPF, Daniel Křetínský’s EC Investments and Jakub Havrlant’s Rockaway Capital.

“The amount of the transaction amounted to roughly 23 billion crowns in conversion, while the book value exceeded 21 billion,” states the mentioned server, adding that the book value of the company was then reduced by about half and that Allegro made the seemingly disadvantageous purchase mainly in order to acquire a rare asset that would facilitate the transformation of Allegra into an international enterprise.

Over time, the popularity of Allegra in the Czech Republic grew, mainly thanks to the favorable prices, which were not overlooked by various Facebook groups.

“What do you think about Allegro, is there anything worth buying, how about info,” one of the members of the POLAND – shopping, tips and recommendations group asked other members of the group for recommendations and information about the mentioned server. It is mainly an assortment for the household.

“Yesterday, I was just picking up a few things,” he soon received a reply from one of the panelists, who also shared additional information.

“We have new duvets, pillows, kibble for the dog, gifts for the children for Christmas (lego, cutlery with children’s names engraved on them, dinosaurs, a suitcase full of painting supplies, a cardboard house for coloring,” she began by listing the products that were delivered to her from the e-shop and continued with others.

“We have a baby, so diapers, wet wipes… and now with the discount of NOK 200 for a referral and NOK 200 for a new registration for the first purchase, it’s great,” she also mentioned the event, which made the entire purchase even cheaper.

Due to the low prices in Poland, whether it is food, consumer goods or even construction materials and fuel, Czech consumers prefer to shop with our neighbors. The state thus loses billions of crowns in taxes, and our manufacturers and sellers also lose.
