Shock landing of the ÖSV Olympic champions at the start of the World Cup – winter sports

A crash landing for Olympic champion Jan Hörl at the start of the Ski Jumping World Cup in Wisla, Poland. ÖSV-Adler messed up the qualification.

At the first start of the Ski Jumping World Cup of all time, Hörl was already the terminus in Friday’s qualifying. 107.0 meters meant only 55th place on the Polish hill in adverse conditions. The man from Salzburg has far surpassed the first individual competition of the new season (Saturday, 4 pm). And the one on the hill on which the Beijing Olympic team champion missed his first World Cup success a year ago.

All six other red-white-red jumpers showed no weakness at the opening of the World Cup, which takes place on the mats due to the early date. With Michael Hayböck in fifth place (128.0 meters), Daniel Tschofenig (130.5 meters) in sixth place, Manuel Fettner (122.0 meters) in seventh and Philipp Aschenwald in tenth (127.0 meters), they concluded in fourth place the red-white-red eagles in the top ten. Daniel Huber in 20th place (120.0 meters) and Stefan Kraft in 21st place (120.5 meters) jumped into the main competition just as easily.

Local hero Dawid Kubacki won the qualification with 133.0 meters ahead of Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud (128.0 meters).
