Parma football club announced on Sunday their separation from their coach Roberto d’Aversa which allowed the Italian club to move from the 3rd division to Serie A.
He should be replaced by ex-Lecce coach Fabio Liverani, 44, according to the Italian press. The club has not formalized this announcement.
Roberto d’Aversa, 45, had taken over the team in Serie C to bring it back to Serie B (in 2017) then in Serie A (in 2018). The club finished 11th in the last Italian championship.
“In recent weeks, the cohesion, harmony and mutual enthusiasm that have enabled successes over the past four years were less noticeable,” the club wrote in its statement.
“No one will be able to erase the indelible milestones engraved in the history of the club, with the essential contribution of the coach and his staff,” added the club, “thanking” Aversa and his staff.
The resumption of Serie A is scheduled for September 19.
