A police officer from the Zapopan Police Station was killed early this Sunday in the streets of the San José del Bajío neighborhood, the corporation of that municipality reported this morning.
Around 5:45 in the morning, the police station received a report of a person injured by a firearm at the intersection of Antimonio and Plomo streets., in the aforementioned neighborhood of Zapopan.
Upon arrival, the officers found a man with several gunshot wounds aboard a late-model Red Ford Fiesta vehicle, for which they requested support for his medical attention.
They were paramedics from Municipal Medical Services who confirmed upon arrival the death of the man, who had received several gunshot wounds to the skull and torso. He was preliminarily identified as Armando Jacob Reyes.
According to preliminary information, the perpetrators fled aboard a red Nissan Versa car.
After the data crosses, the Police Station confirmed that the victim was an active member of his corporation attached to the Canine Tactical Unit. The officer was on his way to begin his duties when he was assassinated.
The body was taken to the facilities of the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences pending the autopsy of the law. Personnel of the Public Ministry of the State Prosecutor’s Office must be in charge of the corresponding inquiries to clarify what happened and find the perpetrators of this homicide.
With the homicide of this officer, there are at least 17 uniformed men killed in Jalisco so far this year. In the last case, four policemen from the Encarnación de Díaz Police Station had died in the middle of a confrontation, which occurred on September 5 in Libramiento Sur.
