Last Wednesday, July 21, the dantesque scene of the execution of an eviction of a family with minor children was repeated in Vallecas.
Several teams from the IPU of the National Police executed the eviction of a house on Maquinilla street, located in the Puente de Vallecas district, following the mandate of the court of first instance No. 6 of Madrid. In this house lived a couple of grandparents, formed by Cruz, a 58-year-old woman and her husband, along with their four grandchildren, two girls and two boys, all of them minors between the ages of 9 and 16.
Previously, another of his older daughters, Marily, lived in said property, who left the property to them after getting a job and a home in another community. The owner of the house, Liberbank, sold the apartment to the Global Tarasca company, which has not wanted to renew the lease with the option to buy in force until then.
Cruz, her husband and her grandchildren had lived in the building since January of this year, after various financial and family difficulties. The couple is in charge of the children, after the minors were orphaned several years ago.

Cruz, the grandmother of the four children, has repeatedly requested a social rent from the EMVS and AVS of the City Council and the Community of Madrid, without receiving a response from both organizations.
Although at this time, the anti-eviction decree approved during the pandemic by the Government is still in force, this eviction has been carried out, abolishing the right to a home and the decree in question. According to the court that instructed the case, a state of vulnerability or registration could not be demonstrated and social services provided a possible housing solution for this family.
From the PAH in Vallecas they denounce the role or lack of previous work of the social services in this case to prove the vulnerability of this family and that this eviction meets all the criteria of the anti-eviction decree. After three attempts to launch the eviction, the judge agreed with the current owner of the property, omitting said decree.
Despite the support of some thirty activists from the Vallekas PAH, the police gained access to the house and proceeded to evict the family. After collecting their belongings, the family rejected the provision of alternative accommodation offered by the Social Services of Madrid after the eviction, since according to the PAH of Vallekas it is a temporary solution and it is not guaranteed that the family is together and they indicated to the media that they would stay with a friend of the family.
Under the motto #CruzseQueda, the Platform Affected by the Mortgage tried to stop the eviction of Cruz and his four grandchildren, of whom he remained in charge after the death of his daughter during the pandemic.
