The series “Star Trek: Discovery” has always divided the fan community: some see it as a departure from the utopian values of Star Trek, others see it as a successful modernization of the franchise. I’ve explained my own opinion too many times, so leave it out for now. In any case, season 5 should now combine old and new elements of the brand. Is it possible to satisfy all fans in this way?
You can’t complain about supplies from the Star Trek universe at the moment: “Star Trek: Picard”, “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”, “Star Trek: Lower Decks” and “Star Trek: Prodigy” also want inclined ones entertain viewers. One of the directors of “Star Trek: Discovery”, Olatunde Osunsanmi, shared with colleagues by ScreenRant already talked about Season 5. According to the director, Season 5 aims to continue the magic of the original series.
Osunsanmi will not be more specific. Perhaps what he means is that the focus will be less on action and soap operas and more bringing back the philosophical and socially critical elements that characterized the original series, among other things.
The question, of course, is whether it can still win back those who have already written off Star Trek: Discovery out of frustration. I have my doubts about that. Those who have stuck with it so far may welcome the potential change in direction.
