Scored a goal and sent off by the referee, Aboubakar followed in the footsteps of the legendary Zidane

Jakarta, CNNI Indonesia

Cameroon striker Vincent Abubakar follow the legendary action Zinedine Zidane when he led the Indomitable Lions to beat Brazil.

In the final match of Group G of the 2022 World Cup, Cameroon clashed with Brazil. In the 92nd minute, Aboubakar scored a goal against Brazil to make it 1-0.

In that duel, Aboubakar was indeed a frightening ‘ghost’ in the Brazilian penalty area. The 30-year-old put the Selecao defense in danger several times, although it didn’t end with a goal.

Aboubakar’s goal has been created through a good scheme. Pleased with a cross, Aboubakar tipped the ball into the back of the net with a superb header to give Cameroon an unexpected lead.

The 30-year-old player then partied wildly. Aboubakar celebrated his goals by opening his shirt and ‘sunbathing’ like Lionel Messi at Barcelona a few seasons ago. The referee automatically gives a yellow card.

A moment later referee Ismail El Fath issued a red card and sent the Cameroon captain off the field of play. Previously, Aboubakar received his first yellow card in the 81st minute.

Aboubakar became the second player to score and receive a red card in the same match at the World Cup. The first person to do this was the French legend.

Zidane suffered this unfortunate fate at the 2006 World Cup. In the final against Italy, Zidane scored a goal in the 7th minute and was sent off by the referee in the 110th minute.

Unlike Aboubakar, who was sent off for a goal celebration, Zidane was sent off by the referee for headbutting Marco Materazzi. This event is legendary and enduring in the history of the World Cup.

Despite a 1-0 win over Brazil, Cameroon failed to advance to the round of 16. This is because in another match Switzerland won 3-2 over Serbia. Cameroon is only in third place with four points.

Meanwhile, Brazil remain the winners of Group G with six points or more on goal difference alone from Switzerland. In the round of 16 Brazil will meet South Korea and Switzerland will meet Portugal.
