Samsung resumes Galaxy Z Flip production after temporary stop by coronavirus – IT Pro – News

Samsung will resume production of the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Fold on Monday at its factory in Gumi in South Korea. The production there was shut down for two days after an employee appeared to be infected with coronavirus 2019-nCoV.

The Gumi plant will open again on Monday after Samsung has disinfected it in the last two days. The department where the infected staff member worked will remain closed until Tuesday. Which message the Korea Times.

Saturday it turned out that Samsung had closed the smartphone factory in Gumi because the employee was showing symptoms of illness. Samsung has largely relocated its smartphone production to Vietnam, but still makes high-end devices such as the Fold and the Z Flip in Gumi, which is two hundred kilometers below Seoul.

Samsung does not expect the temporary production stop to have a major impact on the availability of the devices and the price will not be increased, the smartphone maker promises. The company reports that the situation is under control and the output of the plant would not be high anyway compared to the factories in Vietnam.

However, those factories could face supply problems if the supply of parts from China ceases. In the meantime, the number of 2019 nCoV cases in South Korea is also rising. The country confirmed last weekend that 161 new infections have been detected. The total now stands at 763 and 7 people have died in the country.
