Samsung Exynos 2200 supera CPU e GPU do Snapdragon 895

Update (07/08/2021) by HA

In 3D Mark test unveiled in late June, we already learned of the great power of the Samsung Exynos 2200’s GPU, which surpassed the Snapdragon 888’s score by 40%. Now, a new information, released by twitter @TheGalox_, the new chip of the Korean manufacturer should also beat Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 895, both not about GPU as CPU.

In the ranking presented in the tweet, the chip A15, da Bionic, should beat the two mentioned in terms of CPU, but, in terms of GPU, the Exynos 2200 is the leader. In either case, the Snapdragon 895 lags behind.

According to reports, the Exynos 2200 will have Samsung’s new video accelerator and will be the basis of the series Galaxy S22, the company’s new flagship. The chip may have 4 nm lithography and graphics performance similar to the SM8450 – successor to the Snapdragon 888 –, with the Adreno 730 GPU. Tests carried out so far on GFXBench show very encouraging data.

Expectations about the future Samsung Exynos 2200 chipset com AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture increase while the component appears in benchmark tests. Apparently, the RDNA 2 GPU for the South Korean endemic processor will be better than the mighty Apple A14 Bionic and will have superior performance compared to ARM’s Mali-G170 GPU.

Now the famous leaker Ice Universe shared the chipset’s performance in the Wild Life test of the 3D Mark gamer benchmark. CPU with A77 architecture scored no less than 8134 points.

By way of comparison, the Exynos 2100 had an overall score of 5295 and the flagship Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 scored 5382. Therefore, Apple’s A14 chip should be one of the only ones to compete with AMD’s Exynos 2200 with RDNA 2 architecture. And by all indications, Samsung may become one of the best choices for mobile game players.

What are your expectations for the Exynos 2200 with AMD RDNA 2?

Update (06/21/2021) by FM

Still under great secrecy, the graphics performance of the future Samsung Exynos 2200 chipset with AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture has already been detailed in benchmark tests leaked at the beginning of the month. The data showed that the RDNA 2 GPU for the South Korean’s endemic processor will be superior to the mighty Apple A14 Bionic.

Now, new information reveals that these performance gains will be even more noticeable compared to the hardware of the ARM architecture. According to the source, the processor Exynos 2200 presents graphics performance with gains of up to 30% compared to the Mali-G78 GPU of the ARM architecture.

Also, the graphics processing of the new South Korean SoC is expected to offer more speed than the new generation of hardware from ARM. Whereas the flagship GPU Mali-G710 to ARMv9 will be 20% more powerful than the current generation, AMD would still provide advantage with 10% performance gains to the processor from Samsung.

On the other hand, the source points out that the graphics processor developed by AMD has a power management problem, causing its performance to be reduced by about 20% when trying to keep the clock frequency high for long periods. In later tests, this drop came to represent 30%.

A Samsung’s partnership with AMD, announced during the event Computex 2021, will support ray tracing, VRS and other technologies that will raise the performance bar of Exynos processors. This hardware is expected to reach smartphones, tablets, notebooks and other devices later this year.

Today’s information comes from the GFXBench benchmark test, which showed how Samsung’s new processor should outperform Apple’s current one in graphics performance.

Check below the numbers present in the benchmark test:

As you can see, different tests indicate that the Samsung chip should reach up to 181 FPS, while the Apple A14 Bionic reached a maximum of 120 FPS.

Talking a little more about the possible specs of this chip we have 4 nm lithography and performance similar to the successor of Snapdragon 888, the SM8450 that should arrive with Adreno 730 GPU.

It is also worth remembering that AMD even recently announced that its Exynos chip GPU will still support several advanced features such as Ray Tracing, which will bring even more realistic graphics to South Korean phones.

It’s expected that the first Exynos processor to be launched in the second half of 2021 and equip the next Galaxy S22, which is due for release in early 2022.

Finally, Intel is also struggling to regain its foothold in the processor industry by hiring industry experts who have worked at Samsung and Micron.
