Rutte warns: no more parties at home | Inland

Because it is not going well with compliance with the basic rules to prevent the spread, was the message of Prime Minister Rutte and Minister of Health De Jonge during their press conference. The virus is spreading steadily in all regions and in all age groups. “If we are not careful, we will be back to square one,” said Rutte. “Back to an overburdened worry, back to the locked country, back to where we don’t want to be.”

The Prime Minister therefore gave the very urgent advice to stop hosting parties at home and to limit the number of guests to six. “Unfortunately, national tightening is necessary. Restaurants, museums, gyms and other venues are doing their best to meet the conditions, but there are places where things go wrong. ”

Private atmosphere

The outbreaks are mainly local, in environments where people know each other well: at neighborhood drinks, barbecues, weddings. With Amsterdam and Rotterdam as hotspots, there is a renewed flooding of hospitals and intensive care centers with corona patients. And thus also new restrictive measures.

This ‘escalation ladder’ is not used for the time being and is now mainly used as a warning. This is accompanied by some urgent advice, for example to stop meeting in larger groups. Anyone who wants to celebrate a party does it better in the hospitality industry, said Rutte. It remains an advice, if only because enforcement in the private sphere is not possible. “You do not want a corona police that will look behind the front door,” said Rutte.

Weddings

Where authorities can intervene is at weddings and parties in, for example, conference centers. There, the contact is often close, so that the virus can spread explosively. Operators are called upon to better monitor compliance with the 1.5 meter distance of visitors. Visitors must also sit, such as in the catering industry. If the situation does not improve in such occasions, they must be closed, the warning reads. Local authorities can impose further restrictive rules for this. Later in the evening, further measures are expected in this area from the municipality of Amsterdam.

Headlock

The cabinet is still planning to make home quarantine mandatory for those who come out of a corona fire or have come into contact with an infected person. The House of Representatives was still opposed to this last week. The good news is that the isolation period can be reduced from 14 to 10 days, De Jonge reported. The Outbreak Management Team (OMT) had advised the cabinet on this.

The ‘corona minister’ once again appealed to the self-discipline of the population and to stay at home in case of complaints. It is also still advisable to work from home as much as possible. “We have to keep the virus under control before it takes hold of us.” Or as Rutte said: “From March to July we showed that we can get corona under it. Now we have to show that we can keep it under control. ”
