Russian stock market collapsed because of Gazprom

The collapse of Gazprom shares caused a fall in the entire Russian stock market. On June 30, the Moscow Exchange stock index fell by 5.6%, the RTS index – by 5.2%.

The prices of most “blue chips” on the stock exchange fell within 8%.

Earlier, the shares of the Russian gas monopolist Gazprom fell by more than 30%. The reason was the decision of the meeting of shareholders not to pay dividends. Famil Sadigov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Gazprom, said that the company “should be ready to fulfill its obligations to pay increased taxes.”

Also today, investors are waiting for the decision of the Rosneft shareholders’ meeting regarding dividends. Earlier, the company’s board of directors recommended paying dividends in the amount of 23.63 rubles per share. After the decision of the meeting shareholders of Gazprom“Rosneft shares fell 9%.
