Russian air defenses shot down an unidentified object in the Engels region, Saratov region. This is what the regional governor Roman Busargin wrote on his Telegram channel, TASS reports.
“Air defense is operating on the territory of Engels. An unidentified object has been destroyed. Emergency crews have been sent to the scene. Hthere is a threat to the safety of the residents”he assured.
According to him, false information about the need to evacuate Engels is spreading again in the area.
“I ask residents to remain calm. No need to evacuate the city”emphasized Busargin.
On the night of December 26th Russian air defense shot down a drone, approaching Engels military airfield. Three soldiers died from the wreckage of the drone. No damage was done to aircraft at the airport. Russia blamed the attack on Ukrainian forces.
This was the second attack on the airport. On December 5, the Russian Defense Ministry admitted drone attack on military airfields in the Ryazan and Saratov regions in the morning of the same day. Unidentified drone also attacked Kursk airfieldalso used by the military.
