Roy Barreras, senator and presidential candidate, is still involved in a controversy on account of a video in which he is seen picking up a briefcase with bundles of bills, in a hotel in Bogotá.
The audiovisual was broadcast by Semana Magazine last Saturday and the events would have occurred three weeks ago.
Since then, the congressman has been questioned by the different versions that, they say, he has delivered about the episode.
According to the magazine, prior to the publication of the video, Barreras was consulted about the contents of the briefcase and the senator denied that there was money in it. Likewise, he would have indicated that the one who had collected the backpack was one of his bodyguards.
The politician, for his part, has defended himself by assuring that there is “a whole strategy to morally destroy the opponents.”

According to Roy Barreras, the video only shows “that there are two bundles of 10,000 bills that add up to two million pesos.”

The congressman indicated that initially he sent an assistant to collect the briefcase and then the head of his security scheme, but the Police required the presence of the senator, as the owner of the backpack, to deliver it.
According to Barreras, with this “they wanted to force me to have, illegally, a video made from behind, cheating, illegal, that would allow what they wanted: some images to link this senator defender of peace with money, to be able to destroy morally to this senator. “
On the money that was in the briefcase, he assured that “it is not so much”, and that he had withdrawn it to make his “personal payments”.

On the other hand, from the magazine Semana they dismissed the accusation of “entrapment” and assured that both the police and the hotel staff acted correctly.
