According to the provincial contingency plan, the Rouyn-Noranda hospital center has been designated as the regional reception center for serious covid positive cases. Patients will therefore be housed in intensive care in Rouyn-Noranda rather than being transferred to Montreal. About 15 beds are available in intensive care and 100 more for regular covid positive cases. This measure applies to pregnant women who are tested positive for covid. They will be able to give birth in Rouyn-Noranda.
Dr. Annie Léger is aware that this news is important. However, she would like to remind everyone that the emergency rooms and clinics of the regional health network are safe.
“People really need to understand that even in Rouyn-Noranda, coming to consult will be safe for everyone,” she said. You don’t have to be afraid. We notice that people consult little, our emergency rooms are quiet, our clinics are not very active. We are convinced that some people are waiting and that they would need care.“
For people waiting for services, it is advisable to call the clinic from their family doctor. If the person does not have a family doctor, call your GMF or any clinic, or the 811 line. People will be taken care of.
