On the night of October 2 to 3, 2016, the American star Kim Kardashian, then 36 years old, was robbed by five men in a discreet luxury hotel residence in Paris, where she came to attend Fashion Week.
This Wednesday, June 3, the prosecution requested the return to the assize of eleven people suspected of being involved in this spectacular robberye.
It is now up to the examining magistrates to decide whether or not to refer all these suspects, including the five alleged robbers, to the Paris Assize Court for a trial which could not be held before 2021.
A loot of around 9 million euros
With a booty of around 9 million euros, the group, described by the police as a gang of old-fashioned crooks, is suspected of having made the biggest robbery at the expense of an individual in the last twenty years in France.
Two of the thieves had threatened Kim Kardashian with a gun to the temple, before tying her up, gagging her, and then locked her in the bathroom.
The robbers had brought several diamond and gold jewels, including an 18.88 carat stone, valued at nearly four million euros.
Their presumed leader, Aomar Aït Khedache, known as “Omar le vieux”, told investigators that he had turned the diamond over to someone he did not reveal and that the gold jewelry had melted.
The robbers presumed to be free under judicial supervision
The Paris public prosecutor’s office requests that these five alleged robbers, now free under judicial supervision, be tried in particular for “organized robbery with a weapon”, “kidnapping” and “criminal association”, most often in recidivism, according to the judicial source. .
The public prosecutor also requests a trial for Marceau Baum-Gartner, alias “Grated nose”, suspected of being the receiver of stolen goods, eight times in two months in Antwerp, the jewelery capital, including twice in the company of ‘”Omar the Old”.
The threat of a trial is also becoming clearer for three close to “Omar the Old”: his son, suspected of having played the role of driver, his partner and one of his friends both accused of having participated in the coup organization.
The father of one of the robbers is at risk of being tried by their side for the illegal possession of weapons, and the latter two indicted for providing information to the gang.
