Robbers prey on the Rolexes of John de Bever and Kees after TV soap

There is a serious threat that the Berlicum singer John de Bever and his husband Kees Stevens will be robbed of their Rolex watches. The couple received a visit from the police on Wednesday evening. The pair wore the watches in their TV program, De Bevers. “All watches are going away. There is nothing more to get here,” Kees reports to Omroep Brabant.

As a result of the threat, John de Bever will no longer go to performances and other occasions alone in the near future. It concerns ‘a pair of Rolex watches for about 5000 euros’, says Kees, who is still very shocked by the news.

“Then you sit there and you think: this isn’t real. This is a movie you live in.”

He and John went to bed on Wednesday evening when suddenly the doorbell rang. The police detective was at the door. “They said a tip had come in and there is a serious threat that they want to rob us of our watches. Then you sit there and you think: this is not real. This is a movie that you live in.”

The thieves probably saw the watches in the couple’s TV series, De Bevers. “We started shooting in February. It all went very quickly. We never thought about what we could and could not wear. You think you can wear beautiful watches in this country, but apparently you can’t.”

The watches are sold quickly. “We are very resolute about that. We are not going to run any risks,” says Kees. “The police were also clear about it, by the way. It is simply best not to put them on anymore, the agents say.”

“We want to indicate that there is nothing left to get. The watches are out.”

By coming out with this information, the couple is not ‘just’ trying to ask for attention, says Kees. “That’s not our concern. We already have a series and get enough attention. No, we focus on the perpetrators with this. We want to indicate that there is nothing more to get from us. The watches are out.”

Moreover, Kees hopes that ‘this will make people aware that it is no longer possible to wear beautiful things’. “I want to say that to women in particular: don’t do it anymore, wearing that expensive jewelry. We are lucky that nothing happened. But if you really just get a gun to your head or a blow to the neck “Isn’t that terrible?”
