The officer who shot Blake (29) came with colleagues to a report of domestic violence. Bystanders say Blake had tried to calm an argument between two women. Video recordings show that he subsequently did not respond to orders from the police, after which he was attacked from a short distance by the officer.

Blake is in a hospital in critical condition. His three sons were in the car, according to the family’s lawyer, Ben Crump, and watched their father be shot.
Crump also shares images of the shooting on Twitter. He writes, “This man has been shot in the back several times by Kenosha police. He wanted to get into his car after ending a fight between two women. His condition is critical. We demand justice! #BlackLivesMatter.”

Right after Blake was shot, disturbances broke out in Kenosha, in the northern state of Wisconsin. Hundreds of people went to the police station and threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the police.
