Richard Genzer on StarDance: A Fun and Controversial Judge

What about the rating, some kind of funny story or news. “Fellow judges evaluate the performances of the couples in terms of dance, I take it as theater,” the dance conservatory graduate revealed. He is on the StarDance jury for the third time this year, in the ninth row he himself competed with a dancer Jana Zelenková and he made it to the fifth round. “I took it because I went through the competition myself as a dancer and I really enjoy the atmosphere. On the other hand, judging someone is difficult. Everyone has different tastes. Someone likes dill, someone likes tomato.” added Richard Genzer.

Kind of fun?

However, his way of evaluating couples sometimes offends viewers. “How is it possible that public television allows this and treats it as a form of entertainment,” one of the viewers complained on Facebook. And more were added. “Completely counterproductive approach of Mr. G., who was used to presenting programs such as Teletele, Srandičky and Partička, which are genres thrown into the style of the more obscene words, the better you are at the top of the evening,” added another. More and more similar comments are appearing on social networks.

An established ritual

“StarDance is not a detective story, there is no investigation into who the murderer is. I like that they are such festive evenings, everything is dressed up and nice,” comments Geňa with his own humor, who already has a ritual in place with his fellow judges: they have coffee and a sandwich in the canteen before the live broadcasts.
