Experts are still conducting various studies to prove the link between COVID-19 and blood type. This is done to prove that blood groups are at risk and are ‘immune’ to the Corona virus.

Blood Types Vulnerable to COVID-19
To find out, researchers in the UK conducted a study published in the journal PLOS Genetics on March 3, 2022. The study analyzed more than 3,000 proteins to determine the cause of a person experiencing severe illness due to COVID-19.
The results, found six proteins that cause more severe COVID-19 infections and eight proteins that contribute to protecting the body from the severe effects of the Corona virus.
“We used a purely genetic approach to investigate a large number of blood proteins and established some have a causal relationship with the development of severe COVID-19,” said study co-author Alish Palmos from King’s College London. LivemintMonday (7/3/2022).
In addition, researchers found that blood type also plays an important role in the development of severe disease when infected with COVID-19. Apparently, it was found that the proportion of blood type A is more at risk of being infected with Corona.
“The enzyme (ABO) helps determine a person’s blood type and studies have found an association between the enzyme and the risk of hospitalization, need for respiratory support and risk of death,” said study co-author Christopher Hubel of King’s College London.
