You are going to preside over the jury of the 8th Unusual Film Festival, what costume are you going to put on?
We know each other with Fanny Bastien when we were a group of young actors. Even if I have already been president of a short film festival in Toulouse, I admit that I accepted his proposal for this festival, but I am expectant, what could be more natural when one turns out to be unusual ? I expect everything : everything that, knowing Fanny and Geoffroy (Thiebaut Ed), will arise and come out of the daily grind. I’m probably going to be surprised, taken aback, even meeting the festival audience in a region that I don’t know well doesn’t scare me. I’m just going to stay as I am and I’m sure everything will be fine.
Rennes-le-Château is a special site, do you know it?
I visited Carcassonne, but not the Upper Valley of the Aude, because it is much more for its mystery of a region more than a village, is not it ? Don’t worry though, Fanny and Geoffroy are very good ambassadors for the place. Thanks to them, all the geographical, economic or esoteric curiosities of Rennes-le-Château, Bugarach, Quillan, Limoux, Couiza and even Montazels have been told to me. Of course, I can’t wait to come and discover your region, to get out of my Oise of comfort.
Volcanoes, earth, the preservation of natural resources and even the pandemic are the themes of this 8th Unusual Film Festival. How do you perceive them?
Young, I was rocked like many of your readers by the expeditions of Haroun Tazieff who revealed to us many physical certainties which will mark the beginning of a new era of knowledge on volcanoes. : plate tectonics, eruptive mechanisms and will allow the prevention of populations in this area. Since then, few such notable advances have been made. I will get into the subject by viewing the films in competition, the programming of which seems to me to be very broad and unusual, of course.
