The President of the Republic, Iván Duque, highlighted this Saturday in his daily program ‘Prevention and action’ the leadership that the mayor of Barranquilla, Jaime Pumarejo, has had in managing the pandemic and the path to economic reactivation in the city .
When asked by a citizen about when will small and medium-sized entrepreneurs from different sectors be given free rein to work?, The president said that so far the reactivation of 90% of the economic activity of the country with their respective biosecurity and distancing protocols.
“We have to move forward in some cities where we have had a high impact with a trade liberalization. We have seen, for example, in the case of Barranquilla, the leadership of Mayor Jaime Pumarejo has also been decisive in starting to take rapid steps. We have also seen the same in Cartagena. In cities where there was great affectation, we see the rhythm recovering, ”said President Duque.
The president was emphatic in self-care and in the responsibility that each Colombian has so that productive life can be recovered in the national territory.
“We have to recover that productive life but also a great emphasis on our responsibility in self-care to protect others as well,” he noted.
