Remote control trojans spread via cloud services such as Azure and AWS

Security researcher at Cisco Talos now warns that the remote control trojans Nanocore, Netwire and Asynrat are being spread via public cloud services such as Microsoft Azure and AWS.

According to security researchers, the spread by abusing public clouds seems to be there for the attackers to avoid paying for their own infrastructure. Other advantages are believed to be that they can work faster and that the attacks become more difficult to track.

The attacks usually start with phishing emails that pretend to be an important document, such as an invoice. So far, the victims of the attacks are mainly in Italy, Canada and the United States, but also in Spain and South Korea.
