Remembering Syrian Artist Osama al-Romani: A Tribute to His Life and Work

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, (CNN) – Syrian artist Osama al-Romani passed away, Monday morning, in Damascus, at the age of 81, as a result of a myocardial infarction, according to what was reported by the Syrian News Agency, and the Syrian Ministry of Information mourned him, and many artists. Syrians.

The late artist is one of the founders of the Syrian National Theatre, where he began his artistic career on the stage of the theaters of the Levant, in the early sixties of the last century.

The late Osama al-Romani played television roles in the seventies and early eighties, but he was long absent from the scene, to return to the Syrian drama as the late Syrian President Adeeb al-Shishakli in the second and third parts of the series “Hammam al-Qishani” under the management of his late brother, artist and director Hani al-Romani.

The artist, Osama Al-Romani, explained the reasons for his long absence from the drama, in a previous interview with CNN in Arabic, by his preoccupation with administrative work at the Joint Program Production Corporation in Kuwait as a supervisor and project manager, for more than 40 years, and he was one of the makers of the famous children’s program “Open Sesame”, until he decided Recently retiring and returning home.

The Romanian’s return was through a decimal “document of honor” under the direction of director Bassem El Salka, in the year 2021, which he reunited with Rafik Al-Tarb, the artist Duraid Lahham, in the series “On Love”, which was shown during the Ramadan 2022 drama season.

In the same season, the late Osama Al-Romani participated in the series “Kasr Bone” under the direction of director Rasha Hisham Sharbatji, with whom he concluded his artistic career with a major role in the series “Jam Al-Ezz”, and it was shown during the last Ramadan 2023 drama season.
